OINK Step Into The Cult Arena!

Our good friends at Arrow Films asked us to help re-package a large part of their back catalogue, creating two very distinct collections in the process. First we stepped into the cult arena with ARROWDROME. Described as a ‘Fleapit selected library of violent, sleazy and exploitative cult films, this required an identity that covered a myriad of genre’s including Action, Blaxploitation, Erotic, Giallo, Horror, Mystery, Samurai and Sci-Fi.

The descriptions on some of the synopsis give you a good idea of the materials we have to work with; “groundbreaking shocker” “ eye-popping visuals” “ seamy vein of sadomasochism” “ lust for violence” and our personal favourite “a trail of dismembered teenagers”. Often short of good original material, but sometimes rich with loads of stills and great original posters the challenge was to create a design that allowed every title to shine whatever we had.

There are some genre defining movie classics in the collection including, Night Of The Living Dead, McBain, Battle Royale, Tokyo Decadence and The Exterminator. Each release features a double sided front cover, an exclusive booklet with stills and an essay about the film. With over 30 titles planned and more to follow this collection is sure to be a hit for Arrow and is great fun for us to design.

The first batch for sale and to pre-order are available at http://www.arrowfilms.co.uk

The second collection for us to design was in many ways more of a challenge. ARROW CLASSICS are exactly that, classic films that are all of genuine importance and interest to the serious film collector. The collection needed a design that stood out from all other collections on the shelf and reflected the collectable seriousness of the titles, but which also stood individually as a good enough cover for individual titles and attracted the eye of the casual movie fan.

The artworks were often to rely on existing key art not always in the best condition and maybe a few stills, even the most well know titles in the range suffered from lack of original materials. We think we have produced a design worthy of the collection with real shelf stand-out in a market where the consumer has so much trying to catch the eye. The collection includes titles such as Cinema Paradiso, The Count Of Monte Cristo, Of Mice And Men, The Millionairess, The Dreamlife Of Angels, Like Water For Chocolate, Insomnia, Conversation Piece and loads more. Over 20 titles are planned with more to follow and the first titles are out soon.

Hope you like them and let us know what you think?
